St. John the Evangelist's Anglican Church, Merbein

St. John the Evangelist's Anglican Church, Merbein is a centre in the Parish of the Northern Mallee.

The ceremony of laying the foundation stone of St. John’s Church of England, Merbein, will be performed next Sunday by the Bishop of Ballarat (Dr. Maxwell-Gumbleton), at 3 p.m.
The contract for building the proposed church, which is near the Public Hall, has been let to Mr. Cull at an estimated cost of £3000. The building will be of reinforced concrete, with hollow walls, a chancel and two large vestries. The floor will be composed of a new patent concrete, and there will be a large tower. The furnishings throughout will be in Tasmanian oak.
Many valuable gifts have already been received, including a stained glass window, altar ornaments and other articles. The Vicar, (Rev. Howard C. Russell) is arranging for a curate to take charge. The St. Margaret’s Choir will be in attendance next Sunday, and a drag leaves the post office at 1.45 with a few seats for passengers if early application is made to the Vicar.
